Gigabit deployers

This paper by Robert Kenny and Anthony Fox looks at the 100 companies building gigabit networks in the UK as of Spring 2022. We consider their finances, ambitions and pricing.

It is a picture of great diversity. The incumbents (Openreach and Virgin) are well ahead of the altnets, but even within the altnets there are substantial differences. While several have £1bn or more of investment they are putting to work, there is also a very long tail. Two-thirds of the companies we reveiwed are too new or too small to have yet filed full financial statements.
